I’m having flask backs to the 80’s right now while looking at this blouse. No complaints about the saree but the puffed sleeves on the blouse are a little too masculine. I’d love to see what is underneath what appears to be a cropped jacket, that part has potential. The problem with such a broad shoulder is that it is hard to pull off. Sure, this thin model looks great in it but image a larger women in this blouse.

Women Fashion Saree, I know this is last year’s news, but never got a chance to showcase this.
People very often point to this collection as the acceptance of saree in an international fashion setting. Not sure if I fully agree with that. Very often designers take inspiration from different cultures, I don’t consider that as an “acceptance”.
But at the same time I don’t want to diminish the interesting looks Jean Paul Gaultier has created in this collection.

I am not convinced that this is the most expensive saree EVER, but it may be so in the modern, record keeping era.
It costs about $100,000, and weighs about 15 lbs; the saree is hand woven by Chennai Silks and is studded with precious stones and pays homage to Raja Ravi Verma’s paintings, including the one called “Lady Musicians” shown in the picture.
