Fashion Style, 2010 Fashion style is not quite The Real Housewives of Osaka. The latest Reality Show isn’t even a show at all—it’s a new magazine out of Tokyo, created and edited by fashion writer (and Style.com contributor) Tiffany Godoy and Tomoyuki Yonezu. For the first issue (actually 5 separate small magazines wrapped together in a giant poster), Godoy approached style icons who’ve caught the eyes of Japan’s rabid street-style photogs—everyone from acknowledged celebrities, like Japanese supermodel Ai Tominaga (above) and DJ/scenester Mademoiselle Yulia (below) to the hairstylist-in-training Nirei twins—and had them style themselves in a combination of their own clothes and the runway styles of one designer of their choice. (Tominaga chose Japan’s own Yohji Yamamoto; Mademoiselle Yulia, Balmain.) The magazine, Godoy says, aims to be “a window between Europe and Asia,” but Tominaga, for her part, is a hometown loyalist. “I want Japan to refine what ‘Japanese’ is,” she says in her interview. “Look inside. I don’t mean look back, but look at themselves, look around.” Fellow Japanese may be looking around, but odds are all eyes were on Tominaga herself tonight at the magazine’s launch party in Tokyo, where she took to the decks as a special guest DJ. Those farther afield will soon be able to get their hands on The Reality Show’s first issue at Colette and online at Restir.

Fashion Style, The contemporary artist/fashion label complex, that is, which Jacobs sent to new heights with his accessory collaborationswith Louis Vuitton. Yes, artists and designers had collaborated before—including Dalí and Schiaparelli way back when—but the runaway success of Louis Vuitton’s Murakami bags (and the follow-up Richard Prince “joke” bags) has given contemporary artists a new form to play with and, just as importantly, a new revenue stream.

The latest is the conceptual art star Jenny Holzer, who’s teaming up with Keds to create kicks this summer. (Artist’s canvas, taken literally.) The high-top and low-top styles are emblazoned with PROTECT ME FROM WHAT I WANT, a phrase from Holzer’s text series Survival. They’ll be available online and at select Bloomingdale’s locations in July. The footwear brand is giving back to the art world, too: Keds is sponsoring the Whitney’s summer season.

Fashion Style, For Fall ‘10, Marc Jacobs sent out a sophisticated, elegant-lady collection of Fashion dresses that seems a world fashion style away from the edgy, Sprouse-inflected and tribal referencing collections of seasons past. So how to do justice to it in a campaign? With three of the modeling world’s most elegant ladies, of course: Natalia Vodianova, Karen Elson, and Christy Turlington, shot by Steven Meisel.

Fashion Style, She was on hand to open the Fashion suite of rooms she designed at Claridge’s hotel for 2010 fashion style, Diane von Furstenberg was in London last night toasting the addition of hotelier to her long list of credentials. and the London contingent came out in full force to celebrate, including Victoria Beckham (who was rumored to have changed her vacation plans so as not to miss the fête), Gwyneth Paltrow, and Madonna. The Material Girl went Material Gent for the evening in a wide-legged black suit, paired with a structured blouse and navy fedora. She threw in a few femme touches to keep her just this side of drag—namely, red lips and a belt to accentuate her waist. Maybe she’s got menswear on the brain with the European shows going on now—her friends Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana just celebrated their 20th anniversary in menswear in Milan, after all—but whatever the cause, we’re feeling her for-the-boys look.

Fashion Style, We’re knee-deep in Milan men’s fashion week, and Men suit aficionados—myself included—should be happier than pigs in, well, what pigs like to wallow in. Womenswear designers have lately been hearing the call of the suit, too (witness the power-suit-heavy Fall ‘10 collections), and looking at both those ladies’ options and the finely tailored Italian versions currently parading through Milan, it’s easy to see why. There’s something so perfect and self-contained about a great suit, whether it’s a classic version, like Ermenegildo Zegna’s, or a jazzed-up new standard, like Prada’s denim-on-denim (pictured), or Martyn Bal’s new eighties revivals at Versace. The suit is a uniform, but worn right, it can be one in the best possible sense of the word—something worn because it enables. I think that’s what Rick Owens was getting at, when, a few years ago, he professed his admiration for the Parisian interior designer Jean-Michel Frank, who whittled his wardrobe down to one perfect item. “Supposedly he has 40 identical gray flannel suits,” he said. “That always impressed me.” Find what really works, and don’t change it. Or change it ever so slightly to fit you. That’s what I thought when I read Karen Wright’s catalog of her run-ins with the incomparable painter David Hockney in More Intelligent Life. Tucked away at the bottom was a great little detail: Hockney, who has famously taken to sketching using iPhone (and now iPad) apps in place of pencil and paper, has his suits altered to accommodate. Each one—even his tuxedo—has a deep inner pocket sewn into the jacket, one that precisely fits the iPad. If you want to be a master, you’ve got to dress the part.

Fashion Style, Tom Cruise is staging a comeback—again—with Knight and Day, his new action/comedy flick. The jury’s out on that one, but at the film’s Seville premiere, we did find ourselves more interested in his arm candy than in the Top Gun himself. Co-star Cameron Diaz played the leading role on screen and on the red carpet: She was all drama in a Lanvin dress (calculated, no doubt, to show off her fabulously toned legs) with Lanvin pumps, a Fallon cuff, and blazing red lips. Tom’s real-life paramour, Katie Holmes, on the other hand, went for a sweeter look: a pleated Alaïa dress, gladiator sandals, and barely-there makeup. One went diva, one went demure—who wore it best? Do you prefer Cameron’s marquee glitz, or are you feeling Katie’s quiet elegance?

Fashion Style, It’s not the most popular opinion, but I really mean it: Resort is by far my favorite fashion season. Its Fashion Style is one of popular Dress fashion. For one thing, without the hoopla of official fashion weeks, the collections get less overexposed than those for Spring and Fall; when they hit the store floors, they still have that fresh appeal. And of course it doesn’t hurt that many of them are designed for traveling to warmer climes. An easy-breezy dress that’s perfect for vacation, but stands up back in the city, too.

One of my favorites this week was Sachin + Babi’s psychedelic tie-dyed silk dress. I’m planning to pair it with platform sandals for an evening party out of town with my family. And back at home, black tights and a black blazer would do the trick for a more cosmopolitan look until spring comes again.

Fashion Style, Natalia Polevshchikova posed in the cover page of the Vogue Paris April 2010 issue. The issue was made with Russia as the main subject and the supermodel dressed in such a way that it has rightly exposed the purpose of the issue. She has posed wearing different dresses like paisleys, stripes, sequins and fringes. The very cover page of this issue sees her in a cowboy look.

There is a wonderful mixture of patterns, textures and colors and each look is quite different from the other. The shots with the camel are simply marvelous and will definitely lure the traveler to go to the desert. The combination of bright clothes against the sand and the camel has brought out the clothes more openly. She has carried herself in all the dresses so wonderfully that you will feel that it is a picture of either royal or spoil or may be both.

The photographs basically want to display that she wants to roam around like a bohemian queen with lots of ease and grace. The spread was shot by photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Natasha really looks nice riding on that camel and the design of the clothes has been made in such a way that it gives her a stylish, elegant and smart look.  Isn’t she afraid of the Camel??

When general people feel that it is really tough to walk under the scorching sun, Natasha has shown the viewers how you can feel good and look stylish by wearing lots of knitting, fringing and sequins. She is also looking great in that dress of fur.

Fashion Style, Did you see Katy Perry on the Thursday night? The Kids’ Choice Awards it was and there were just one after another shocking things happening all around the night. Let’s not talk about anything else but about Katy Perry getting slimed. Well, all those mischievous acts took place all of a sudden when Katy was about to unravel the name of the winner of the Favorite Movie category.

She just opened a box for finding the name of the winner and right then a heap of green slime got splashed on her and she went all green and all wet. You must have seen how she was looking and how she reacted to it. Funny and very amazing it was.

And then comes the real attraction of the night when she was seen wearing the very gorgeous peacock colored dress which is simply adorable and simply very pretty. The sequined work of the dress, its pearls and studs and the beautiful strapless cut are adding just another dimension of good look and style to this dress.
